September 2021 Newsletter & Chairman's Report
Posted by BYFC Chairman on 18 September 2021
With the new 2021/2022 season just over a week old, the chairman's report is a little late.
The awards presentations this season were split up into teams due to the COVID restrictions we faced but everyone seemed to have a good turnout and the winner of the clubs coveted CADET award was matti Sophocleous from the U12's who opitimises everything about playing for a team and leading by example in both training & matches. Well done Matti!
I have waited to give good news at the start of the season, hopefully following a COVID-19 affected 2020-2021 season as we look to get back to a little normality at last with children playing football in a safe and friendly environment.
I can now announce several pieces of big news for BYFC!
The club had a busy summer, with changes to our committee as we said goodbye to Carole Digby our secretary, Simon my former long term coaching partner and James my former u11 player (all starting an exciting new chapter in their lives in Prague!) we wish the Digby's all the luck and happiness in the future...thanks for your support and help through some tough times and plenty of good times! James last game saw him score his first goal for the club, the scenes were amazing with not a dry eye on the sidelines.
With that the club has now gained two new comittee members Rachael Clowery has taken over as New club secretary & Mathew Clowery has stepped up to help me as Vice-Chairman... and both have stepped on the accelerator as we ramped up to prepare for this season.
Two great additions to the club to help us only become stronger and more secure for the future! welcome onboard..
The club ran a couple of summer soccer camps just before the start of the season, these were a big success and raised over £300 for the club, we have also set up a go fund me page for two defibrillators (one at BVC and one at the pavilion on the rec) following the sad circumstances in Euro 2020 with Christian Eriksen, (not everybody is lucky enough to have such wonderful people around them in an emergency and the medical team and his teammates showed beautifully how to come together in such testing circumstances....) we have raised just over £1400 and our target is £2000.

We also purchased two new pairs of metal goals for the u12 pitch on BVC and some u8/u10 goals for the Jets, Apache's and SSC on the rec.
The club had a sign on registration day in July this raised £948.73, with football games, raffle, bouncy castles, tractor rides and football matches this was a massive success and will be bigger and better next summer!! with 5 teams now & Saturday soccer club the club is really showing lots of green shoots for the future!!
Saturday Soccer Club continues to grow with approx 25 kids signed on, and plenty of BYFC training tops on display at the weekly seasions!
Our new U8 Apache's run by Matt & Chris are now officially up & running and have got off to a flying start, and with a kit kindly sponsored by Drainage Facilties Management (Thanks Matt) and it looks great!
The U10 Jets have got off to a great start as well and have been trying all through the summer with a bulging squad and also have a new kit courtesy of Holistic Finiancial Leadership in melbourn, growing kids needed a new kit it looks brilliant!
My U12 team are also growing too quick as well, they also have a new kit supplied by Holistic Financial Leadership (Thanks Brenda & Patricia)
Our U14 team run by Chris & Ian continue to grow and improve with a brilliant bunch of players.
Our u15 team run by Matt & Matt continue to grow as a squad with nearly 20 players now... (sponsored by DFM again thanks Matt)
I would like to take this opportunity to thanks to all of our sponsors and hard working volunteers without your help and support the club would not in such a fantastic position.
finally to the parents and players... keep being supportive, happy, brave, positive and motivated as we look to all have an amazing season!! Onwards & Upwards
